ChemBridge Research Laboratories (CRL) and ChemBridge Corporation announce amendment and expansion of their major discovery chemistry strategic alliance with Pfizer

SAN DIEGO, California, February 6, 2004 /PRNewswire

ChemBridge Research Laboratories, LLC (CRL) and ChemBridge Corporation today announced that CRL, ChemBridge, and Pfizer Inc. have amended their current strategic alliance agreement and simultaneously have entered into another discovery chemistry collaborative agreement. This expansion is based on the outstanding performance shown by both CRL and ChemBridge during the first two years of their current alliance with Pfizer. This new arrangement further extends CRL's and ChemBridge's strategic relationship with Pfizer until the end of 2008. It also expands the scale and the scope of their alliance beyond advanced screening libraries towards downstream discovery chemistry needs. These needs include hit-follow-up and medicinal chemistry support for the Pfizer Global Research and Development organization. Specific financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are extremely delighted to further enhance and broaden our strategic relationship with the world's largest pharmaceutical company,” said Eugene Vaisberg, Chairman and CEO of CRL and ChemBridge. “This major new deal is another proof of our entire organization's capabilities to succeed and excel in an increasingly competitive global discovery chemistry outsourcing market. Our business model draws on the complementary strengths of CRL's U.S. and ChemBridge's offshore (Russia) research sites. Our chemists in San Diego and Moscow are working as one integrated team, applying their combined intellectual contribution, creativity, and problem solving skills to numerous novel research intensive projects in synergy with the partner's scientists around the globe. The current collaborative relationship with our Pfizer colleagues has been extremely rewarding, which has helped the entire team of over 100 CRL and ChemBridge chemists to exceed very challenging 2002 and 2003 collaboration goals. I trust that the high scientific level, the dedication, and the commitment of our team ensure our ability to meet new challenges and continuously exceed Pfizer's expectations over the next five years. From the financial perspective, the new deal will support sustainable growth of both CRL and ChemBridge and further enhance our abilities to enter into new value added lead discovery and lead optimization collaborations.”
